Route locking system, invented by Soviet engineer Jevgeny Natalevich, enabled assistant station master to control the setting up of a route by pointsmen. Every point had an executive instrument and the control instrument was at assistant station master`s disposal. That way entering an occupied track was prevented. In Estonia Natalevich`s system was first introduced in 1948 at the stations of Tartu area.
